Happy Fat Tuesday

What a title.... that's actually how I feel today!!  LOL

Happy Mardi Gras!!!  This is the second Mardi Gras in a row that I have missed since I moved to Louisiana.... I had just found out I was pregnant the second time a month before Mardi Gras last year...Fingers crossed I'm not prego this time next year.  I REALLY want to take part in the festivities next year.

So how did Baby G and I celebrate Fat Tuesday.... let me show you.
First.... I did a lil "Valentines" nail art to pass the time

But MASS MAJORITY of the day was spent just like this........
Feet propped up.... starring down at my Baby Bump.  On a positive note.... I did have some contractions this afternoon. YAY!!!!

I was a little bad.... I ran across this drink recipe and I seriously was LUSTING after a cocktail!!!  I definitely want to try this one out.

Hospital Bags...What I'm packing

Since my Thursday appointment, I have had this pressing need to get our bags ready.  I've been spending the week washing clothes for Baby G and putting together a packing list of things I want to make sure we take.  Saturday I shopped more than I have in a very long time picking up all the last minute things I needed for Baby G and myself.  I was told that we are only allowed to bring in a small tote into the "labor/delivery" room...was told it needs to be small to medium and then after Alston can bring up our overnight bags and anything else we may need.  So I've packing two bags... (1) Admitting tote (2) over night bag, which will have all of our things in it (mine, hubby and Baby G).

I'm curious to see what I actually used and what I should have brought:  I'll defiantly be writing a follow-up to this blog after things calm down.

My admitting bag.... work in progress.

  • Glasses ( I'm hoping to wear contacts the whole time, but you never know)
  • My Kindle and charger
  • Heading Pad.... had been my best friend through this pregnancy
  • Notebook with pen
  • Baby book to get Baby G's hand and foot prints
  • Sugar free candy
  • Chap-stick
  • ID
  • Insurance card
  • Camera
  • Head-band in cause Baby G is a girl
  • Bath rob
  • Socks with grippers
  • Pony-tail holders and bobby pins
  • Infant gown for after Baby G's bath

Over night bag for all of us

  • Nursing pads
  • toiletries...face wash, body wash, shampoo & conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, tooth brushes, lotion
  • Nipple cream
  • Nipple soothers
  • Nursing cover
  • Boppy
  • Phone Charger
  • Nursing bras (2)
  • yoga pants
  • Socks
  • Spaghetti strap tanks
  • Sweater (I'm always cold)
  • Scentsy plug in ( I don't like the way hospitals smell)
  • Snacks
  • Change of clothes for hubby
  • Cash ( coins and bills)
  • Makeup
  • Gowns for baby G (3)
  • Coming home outfit....Hubby wants to pick this out especially for Baby G.  We talked about just buying a gender neutral outfit, but Hubs really wants to pick out that special outfit.
  • Long-sleeved onesies (2)
  • Light weight blanket
  • Minky blanket
  • Mittens
  • Socks
  • Car seat
Optional.... I pulled a blanket down for Hubby and some extra pillows to put in the car just in case he needs some once we get into our room.

Valentines Day for Hubby

I'm really not a fan of Valentines Day, for me it just always seemed so commercialized of all the holidays.  But for some reason I have the desire to do something nice for Alston this year.  I think part of it is I know my pregnancy has not been easy for him either... I can be pretty difficult to handle at times... so I wanted to do something sweet for him.

The gift basket I put together for him... I got the idea from a girl I work with
(she found it on Pinterest)

This is the pic from Pinterest of all the items I put in his basket  and
the tags I made for the items.

I was able to pick of everything at Wal-Mart and The Dollar Tree (card from Target).

Love to sew

I've been checking items off of my "need to buy" list... trying to get the hospital bags packed.  One of the items I needed to pick up was a nursing cover, but i wasn't "in love" with the prints I kept seeing.  So Alston said "why don't you make one?"  DUH.....

Here's the fabric I picked out... loving chevron right now.

Finished product!
It seriously only took 1 1/2 hours from start to finish.

36 weeks

How far along: 36 weeks
Total weight gain: ....prepare yourself....49 lbs
Stretch Marks: still looking good.
Sleep: I'm able to nap, but sleeping at night is almost impossible.
Best moment this week: Hearing Baby G's heartbeat
Miss anything: MY LEGS, ANKLES AND FEET!!
sleeping on my stomach, not having heartburn, being able to go more than a hour without having to pee, being able to bend over and wearing my old clothes and SHOES
Movement: A TON
Food cravings: Jimmy-Johns!!!
Anything making you sick/queasy: The heartburn is still KILLING me
Gender prediction: I'm thinking Pink
Labor pains: Contractions started Sunday afternoon and have been pretty sporadic all week
Wedding ring on or off: Ring is off :(
Belly button in or out: 1/2 in 1/2 out...and when I laugh it looks like it could completely pop out.
Mood most of the time: Nervous... I don't like surprises, and not knowing when this baby is coming or what labor/delivery will be like kind of freaks me out.
Looking forward to: Doing some last minute shopping for Baby G and me and getting a mani-pedi this weekend.
Next appointment: Feb 14....VALENTINES DAY!
Any new symptoms: Swollen feet, ankles and calf's.
Prego Moment of the week: I had a break down in the doctors office Thursday   When Dr. Chapman came in and saw my legs/ankles/feet you couldn't believe I was so swollen.  She double checked my BP and my urine sample ( both were negative).  I told her I how miserable I was, I can barely walk, sit, lay down or breath.  She said that she still feels very strongly that I'm going to go early on my own, but if I don't she'd like to go ahead and schedule me to be induced on my 39 week (Feb 25).  She said there is no medical reason to do it sooner, unless somethings changes in the next week.  She said she knows I'm running out of room...my belly isn't very big (her words...I feel otherwise) and Baby G is a good sized baby.  She then said that she'd like me to talk to Alston about taking my maternity leave earlier than planned and do decide on the induce date.  We decided that next Friday will start my leave...Feb 15.

***HERE IS A PIC OF HOW SWOLLEN I AM BY THE TIME I GET TO WORK***  gross.... please forgive the nail polish...time for a pedi.

We've got some action

Sunday afternoon I started noticing I was having some strong cramps that felt a lot like period cramps.  Maybe one an hour and it would last for quite awhile.  This continued till about 6 last night, then it started back up  very early this morning.  I've been up since 5 having this "cramps" a couple of times.   I haven't called the Dr yet... I'm waiting to see if they stay the same.

I'm scheduled to see Dr. Chapman this Thursday.  Which at that appointment I'm going to show her how swollen I've been getting.  My fingers, ankles and feet look TERRIBLE!!!!  I'm only able to wear about 3 pairs of shoes....BOO

Baby Shower....numero tres

Saturday we had our baby shower for hubs-moms side of the family.  It was a lot of fun and some AWESOME food!!!  I didn't get a picture of our wonderful hostesses.... but I want to say THANK YOU again.  Ashley (who just had Ms. Renley), cousin Glennis, Aunt Roni and my MIL Robbie.

I forgot to mention the thank you gifts we did for all the hostesses.  Hubs and I purchased some real
ly pretty-light weight scarfs and had them embroidered by a dear friend of mine.
***if you need something embroidered quick... she's DEFINITELY the way to go.***

The hostess gifts... I forgot to take pictures of the actually scarfs.  I love the "It's a Girl" & "It's a Boy" tissue paper.  Seemed so fitting

Baby G's cake.  I swear it was iced with cool whip!  So good.
Mice... chocolate dipped cherry's with kisses for face and almond slice ears....SOOO cute and yummy!

Now...that's a southern spread of food.

The "dots" on the wall above the table are going in baby G's room... Love decor that can be used again!

The kids "helping" me open presents... I love it!

Hubs got a gift... to be used for those late night diaper changes!!! HAHAHA

Handmade burp clothes in the fabric I'm in love with.

Car seat cover..YAY!!! it also converts to a blanket when you're done with it.
Baby G's hand quilted quilt from Aunt Roni, Aunt Pig (yes...that's what she prefer's to be called) and Ashley.

Allie LOVES her Alston...HAPPY HEART...SIGH....

LOVE THAT SMILE!
Hubs mom made a basket filled with 30 bags, which have 30 gifts in them for Baby G.  We have exactly 30 days till Baby G's due date, so we are supposed to open one gift a day till the arrival.  Alston as a child LOVED this "surprise" grab bags... so his mom wanted to do the same for Baby G.

The Grandma

So blessed to have her as family and a friend.  Moving down here has been a WHOLE lot easier because of her friendship.
THANK YOU LORD

35 weeks

Best moment this week: Baby G was honored with 3 baby showers. We got to see Baby G one last time before D-Day.  I looks like the babe will have Alston's lips and my fat/round cheeks. Baby G is estimated to be 6LBs 4 Oz (which could be +/-1LBS and length is in the 78%.
Miss anything: sleeping on my stomach, not having heartburn, being able to go more than a hour without having to pee, being able to bend over and wearing my old clothes.
Movement: I HURT! Thanks to the sono I know that it's feet that are kicking my ribs.
Food cravings: Jimmy-Johns!!!
Anything making you sick/queasy: The heartburn is still KILLING me
Gender prediction: I'm thinking Pink
Labor pains: Braxton Hicks
Wedding ring on or off: Ring is off :(
Belly button in or out: 1/2 in 1/2 out...and when I laugh it looks like it could completely pop out.
Mood most of the time: Happy... I haven't felt this good in quite awhile.
Looking forward to: Our couples shower saturday afternoon.
Next appointment: Feb 7 ( the weekly appoitments have started)
Any new symptoms: Swollen feet, ankles and calfs.

Prego Moment of the week: Dr. Chapman told me that she doesn't expect me to make it to 40 weeks.  She said to make sure my bags are packed.  With baby G being engaged, the estimated size and the swelling I'm experiencing could lead me to have the baby early.
